The Holy Spirit Every Day

The Holy Spirit is for everyday living

The baptism in the Holy Spirit is not just for summer camp; the Holy Spirit is for everyday living. I was ministering the other day at a church in Viriginia, and the Holy Spirit fell hard on the congregation. All of the kids and teenagersfrom ages 4 to 16were filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in tongues.

One little four-year-old girl kept crying while on her knees, saying, “Jesus, I love you. I love you so much.” Another little girl said to me, “After I started speaking in tongues, I don’t know why I started to go pray for other people. I never do that. Why did I do that?” I explained to her that when we are filled with the Holy Spirit, He gives us a supernatural boldness to do things that we normally wouldn’t do.

Kids are being attacked everywhere they go with images on television, games that open doors, and friends who toy with witchcraft. As children’s ministers we need to be providing opportunities where children can be exposed to the supernatural  as well. Kids get excited about the supernaturalwhether it be light or darkness. They are curious. That curiosity can lead to wherever they are swayed.

When kids have an encounter with the Holy Spirit, it’s where they can feel God not just hear about Him. Once they are filled with the Holy Spirit, they need to be activated and challenged to grow in the Spirit. It’s the beginning of their spiritual employment.

At a camp in Argentina, one night the altar time went long. It was almost midnight, and I told the kids that we should go eat dinner, that it was really late. Then a boy said to me, “Michelle I am not hungry for food; I am hungry for the Spirit. I want to wake up in the Spirit.”

Kids have taught me so much. They want to know the Holy Spirit more. And once they experience His Spirit, they want more. Once they get activated in the Holy Spirit, there is no stopping them. We need to make sure we are feeding our children Spirit-sized food.

This is the Joel 2:28 generation, and we need to help them grow in their giftings and experience heaven on a daily basis.

"And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions" (Joel 2:28, NIV).
