Don't Forget Preschool Kids
Preschool kids--an important component of the church

In the Kidmin world it’s common for people to spend most of their time and energy on the elementary age group. There are typically more curriculum options, and it may be considered more “fun” because the physical and mental development of the kids allows them to do more.
But don’t forget about preschoolers.
Here are three benefits of being intentional with preschoolers in your church.
- Easier transition: When the elementary team is conscientious about connecting with preschool children before they transition up, they will likely have a relational foundation to start from. This can make all the difference in these young kids feeling like they have a friend who knows them and cares about them already.
- First lasting impressions: The good or bad experiences of preschool will likely stick with the child for many years. Though some of the children will have grown up through the nursery, most will not have memories of church until they get into preschool. As we minister with the “end in mind” we must think about the first, lasting impressions that a person will have. Intentionality with preschoolers can help them fall in love with God’s house and God’s people.
- What it says to parents: Preschool intentionality means lessons are age appropriate, teachers are trained on that specific age group, classrooms are clean and equipped with plenty of activities and games. When this happens, young parents will see and appreciate the level of excellence your church takes with even the smallest members of the congregation.
